Parent Atwood- 21st at worlds

We finished the 2020 world championship in 21st place. This is our best finish at a worlds together and a huge accomplishment. Of course though, we have mixed feelings about the regatta. While we sailed one of our strongest events we did not win the Olympic trials and will not be your American representative in Tokyo this summer. Everyone who starts an Olympic campaign believes that they can be the best in the world and we are no different. Our goal was and remains to earn an Olympic medal but we also know that the value of the Olympic process stands independent of that goal. We have spent the past two years together learning, growing as athletes and people, and building a legacy for Olympic catamaran sailing in the US. We finished this Olympic quadrennial as stronger athletes, smarter sailors and better people with a career best performance. We have been part of a movement to change the culture of Olympic training in American sailing, and we will continue to support the American Nacra 17 Olympic effort in a training partner capacity.
We are so proud of everything we have accomplished and proud to have been YOUR team through this process. To our supporters, sponsors, family, friends, teammates and to everyone that has come together to give us this opportunity, thank you. It truly could not have been done without you.
Now, our focus as a team shifts to supporting our squad-mates, Riley and Anna, as we prepare them to have the best possible performance in Tokyo. Individually we are both looking forward to having time to delve in to other areas of the sport, including coaching, Aclass catamaran sailing, offshore, and professional sailing. And while we don’t know exactly what the future holds we are going in to it equipped with invaluable experiences from this campaign and with just as much drive as ever to be the best we can be.
