Evan Heffernan is a Santa Barbara–based professional kite racer and software engineer who combined a sailing background with world-class Formula Kite competition. He was ranked fifth in the 2019 Formula Kite world ranking, finished as the top American at the 2019 North American Championship, and teamed with Daniela Moroz to win the mixed relay test event at the 2019 Worlds. He later campaigned for Paris 2024, finishing fourth at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
