Alina Returns to San Pedro for the Premiere of Alina’s Journey

Alina Shapovalova is coming back to San Pedro, this time to share her story on screen and meet the community helping her pursue her Olympic dream.

Join us on Saturday, November 14, at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for the premiere of Alina’s Journey, followed by a private reception with Alina and special guests. The evening is an opportunity to meet the Ukrainian ILCA 6 sailor and support her campaign to represent Ukraine at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

From Odesa to Southern California

Directed by Jack Baric and written by Alina Shapovalova, Alina’s Journey is a 20-minute documentary about rebuilding a sailing career after the upheaval of war. A GameChange production, it follows Alina’s determination to keep racing and work toward Olympic qualification.

The film also tells a local story. Supporters around the Port of Los Angeles helped bring Alina to Southern California to train and race. Her 2026 program included the North American Championship and the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta, and Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club has welcomed her as an honorary member.

For Alina, those connections provide a community around a demanding international campaign. Her November visit gives supporters a chance to meet her in person, see the film and learn more about the effort ahead.
