Olympic, world-class, and competitive youth sailors face various challenges before becoming internationally competitive. The Skiff Sailing Foundation addresses three of the most significant problems facing sailors in the United States: Funding, Coaching and Competition. The Skiff Sailing Foundation assists teams campaigning for the Olympics with grants in order to partially relieve the burden of fundraising.
Prior to the Athens Olympics, the SSF was able to raise over $50,000 assisting eight members of the US Sailing Team in the 49er and Women's 470 classes. The SSF has also made available its 49er to youth teams eager to try out the Olympic skiff. We plan to maintain our Olympic grant program and hope to raise more for our teams in the years to come.
